Spot is a 7-pound Rat Terrier. She can usually be found sunning herself in front of the office or sleeping and shedding on an office chair. Other times she is on the prowl for toads, mice, groundhogs, and raccoons. Her job is never done and she needs little motivation.

Zebra is our other Rat Terrier, but he is much bigger than Spot. They have the same mother, but they are quite different. Zebra likes to chase sparrows and squirrels. He runs for human help while Spot barks at some furry critter. He also likes to sleep in the sun. Zebra is an excellent watch dog.

A lot of dogs think they want to be junkyard dogs. This wonderful Beagle is the fourth dog to wander into our business. He arrived on Tuesday, August 3, 2004. We contacted all the local animal control units, but nobody has claimed him. He likes to sleep in the sun, also, but he can't help but chase rabbits and howl and bay. (There are plenty of rabbits to chase.)

Bear was a furry black puppy that showed up on a rainy day in 2003. We placed him shortly after his arrival. Brownie was a chocolate Labrador that liked to sprawl in the office. He only barks when he wants to get in (from the rain?). We placed him about a week after his arrival. (Spot is still very jealous of Brownie.) Mickey was a mellow Blue Heeler that we were able to reunite with his owner by our own flyer placed at Krause Livestock & Feed in Hope.

Some think it's the wheels that draw the dogs. Some think it might be the all-day attention. It could be the lack of cats. Handouts. Spot's incredible charm?
